Hey all! This is my first ever Kelly Awards! (You would think I would come up with a more creative name! haha) This is similar to 5 things I heart but is focused more on products or trends that I think deserve a shout-out. These are things I have or have tried so they do have a little creditability! I hope you find this useful! Let me know if you try or buy any of these!
1) FOREVER 21 JEGGINGS
I just bought these last Thursday (for only $14.90) and I literally wore them ALL weekend. I even wore them for Fashion Friday. They are so comfortable. They have that soft legging feel – no stiffness at all! A lot of the jeggings I tried on were still JEANS…. not these. Plus I like that they have that jean-looking seam down the sides. I definitely recommend these!

2) THE 1995 PRIDE & PREJUDICE on DVD
This version of Pride & Prejudice beats out the Keira Knighty version by a landslide. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed that version too but this one is a lot more convincing and fun to watch. I really could watch this over and over. Colin Firth is perfect in it. I got this for Christmas from my mom and I am tempted every Sunday to put it on. This is a good one to own. You can find it here.

3) PAPAYA JOURNALS
I have blogged about Papaya Art before and I really can’t sing their praises enough. I love their stuff… it’s so original and pretty. In the past couple years I have enjoyed journaling so I was excited when I got this one from my husband. I think it’s really important to journal… definitely a good way to process through thoughts. What I do a lot is write down prayers which really helps when I’m just not sure where to begin. Does anyone reading this journal? Try it out and buy something pretty to write in!

4) L’OREAL VOLUMINOUS ORIGINAL MASCARA
This is my all-time favorite mascara. I have tried so many different kinds from Dior to CoverGirl and this is the one I keep going back to. It doesn’t have one of those giant brushes that a lot of the mascaras have right now (which provide no benefit by the way) so it has more control. And it doesn’t go on clumpy because it stays pretty wet in the bottle. Get it in Blackest Black for a bigger impact. Plus it’s only around $7 at any drugstore.

5) SIDE BRAIDS
I became obsessed with side braids ever since my officemate Teresa showed me the Alexander Wang fashion show… they all had their hair in one heavy, messy side braid. I love this look! It’s so simple yet why didn’t I think of this?? I love that this is so easy and it doesn’t have to be perfect. Plus I’m getting sick of little tiny tight braids. Here’s me in a side braid last week:

Have a happy Monday ;)

I was in Minnesota this past weekend for a friend’s wedding and while I was there my mom and I went to a couple antique/thrift stores and found some really fun stuff! Minnesota has some great little stores for vintage finds!

Fur Stole: Gift from my mom
When she bought it, it didn’t have a back so she sewed satin fabric on the back so now it’s like brand new! I can’t wait to do something cool with it!

Tissue Holder: Also gift from my mom (she has good taste!)
I’m still trying to decide if I want to spray paint this black or not, although it’s so pretty the way it is.

Relish Dish: $10 Salvaged Treasures in Rochester, MN
Does this look familiar? It was on my Christmas wish list so I was so excited to find it there!

Vintage Brooch: $3 Country Collections Antiques in Waseca, MN
This brooch reminds me of Minnesota because it looks like a snowflake :)

Vintage Valentines: 50 cents Salvaged Treasures in Rochester, MN
I couldn’t resist these cute little valentine’s cards! They are little artworks!

I love how art can inspire thoughtfulness. I found this pretty stationary at Micheal’s the other day and it inspired me to send my grandparents a little note. They live far away in Minnesota so I don’t get to see them very often. But every time I receive a card or note from my grandma my heart smiles. There’s something special about handwritten letter. Holding the physical letter in your hands, feeling the indents of the ink impressions, knowing they held the same paper and took time to write it especially for you. I always feel like a little kid when I get personal mail. I jump up, grab the letter, and quickly tear open the envelope. And smile as I read it.
I hope this little post inspires thoughtfulness in you. Tell me in the comment section who you plan to write a note to.
And just a little reminder, as my grandma always writes in her notes to me… The Lord is good.

2) Wintery Scenes
Never thought I would say this but I miss those white Minnesota mornings when the blanket of snow makes everything silent.

Found here and here.
3) A DIY hidden jewelry box
Saw this today and um… GENIUS!

See the tutorial here.
4) My Owl Salt & Pepper Shakers
This was one of my Christmas presents from my husband. He found them at a local antique store. Oh how I love him!

p.s. he also made that vegetable soup in the foreground from scratch :) It was delicious.
5) Abigail Jewel’s Blog
Yep my sister has a blog! It’s fabulous and she’s an amazing writer. You must check it out. She shares her thoughts on art, fashion, music, living for the Lord, and the in and outs of going to a high school boarding school.

Hello! How was everyone’s weekend? Mine was filled with girl time and crafts. Love those weekends! I will show you some of those crafts tomorrow :) For now I want to show you this….

On Wednesday at work we are having a picture sharing meeting across the organization to get to know people better since we span across the US and many people haven’t met in person. Most of my meetings are over the phone so it’s nice to find out more about my co-workers.
Anyway I wanted to share with you the pictures I’m sharing in the meeting. Do you think this pretty much represents me? Do I need to add words? I plan to explain things I’ve done over the past year, who the people close to me are, and my interests.
Do you have any pictures you want to share with me?? I would love to see!
